Before joining Angel’s Envy, Rashid served our country as a Navy Fire Control Technician (submarines) and an EOD Technician. Prior to that, he studied at the University of Texas at Austin. But he’s bartended off and on since 1998, and has been heavily involved in the spirits industry since 2013. Trying to create something unique without overdoing it is a balance I particularly enjoy. He explains his love of the work: “My passion for the industry, at its core, is understanding the current psychology of the modern drinker. Finding ways to break stereotypes in drinking and imparting a better train of thought or giving an introduction to a spirit of flavor, for example, is extremely gratifying. Trying to create something unique without overdoing it is a balance I particularly enjoy.” Rashid is a man who pays attention to detail as well, so much so that he runs a high-profile ice program for his bar. In his spare time, he’s been a swimmer for over 20 years (Navy, makes sense). He’s also an avid traveller and soccer junkie. Once a month, he finds time to volunteer, teaching kids how to play chess. If you’re at an Angel’s Envy event in Austin, look for Rashid. He’ll be happy to talk Angel’s Envy with you.
