Two years ago, SACC introduced the Licor 43 brand ambassador to local Pulp Coffee owner James Mireles. It was a match as perfect as espresso and lemon zest. The Carajillo gift pack (featuring Licor 43 Blend Pulp Coffee) was born, and the partnership was cemented. Coffee drinks certainly lend themselves to after-dinner treats as well as brunch beginnings. They can be pyrotechnically showy or simple add-ins that layer with the robusta of brewed beans.
Start by filling a rocks glass with plenty of ice. Have a lukewarm cup of brewed coffee on hand. Pour Licor 43 into sturdy stemware and light the liquor on fire. Pour the lit liquid over the ice which will douse the fire. Top with the coffee and enjoy. For a richer, creamier version, add a jigger of Irish Cream.
Add 1 oz. tequila and 1 oz. Ancho Reyes to a large mug of steaming hot coffee. Top with whipped cream.
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine 1 oz. dark rum, 2 oz. cold brew coffee, and ½ oz. Torino vanilla syrup. Shake until frothy and well chilled. Serve in a coupe.
